Christ On A Bike
OK... so I know the Brits is the music awards ceremony for people who only buy one record a year (hence KT Tunstall and James Blunt-ne-Blant getting gongs)
What's made me angry this evening is the BBC News at 10's coverage - could it's explination of the rise of "guitar bands" be any more patronising ? They write songs (never) and play guitars (hence the name granny) and have made songs available on the internet for fans (shock!). I know, I know, the Beeb is stuffy and I shouldn't complain but tonights piece was possible the laziest piece of journalism I've seen for a long time.

Pete Doherty - Channel 4 interview
It's genius:
http://www.channel4.com/news/special-reports/special-reports-storypage.jsp?id=1725
Emily Reuben(Interviewer): "I'm going to sk about Kate Moss"
Pete Doherty: "That's a bit rude - I don't ask about your fella... your just being lazy, you want a bit of gossip"
ER: "I just want to get to the bottom of the story"
PD: "It's not a story - it's peoples lives"
ER: "but what happened"
PD: "I met someone and fell in love"
It's such a great interview. Some real sparks of wit from Pete and aparently he's straight:
PD: "I'm not that much of a junky anyway.... sorry, what was hte question"

A Quick Plug...
Hopelessly behind on writing up the gigs, but need to mention Liam Frost, who we saw play Water Rats last week. I've mentioned him before, we saw him supporting Stephen Fretwell last year, and he's shaping up to be one of our tips for 2006. Lots of Ryan Adams and Badly Drawn Boy style songs, a good backing band in The Slowdown Family, and a really good nights entertainment.
His first proper single is out this week and he's playing Water Rats again next Tuesday, the 14th, so expect a broken hearted Valentine party.
Worth a quick mention of his support band Lisa Brown. Some interesting songs, a sound somewhere between U2 and Doves and the worst band name I've seen since Test Icicles.
See Tickets Cracking Down on Touts
I was just booking tickets to see Make Good Your Escape via See Tickets when I noticed the following message. Actually it's pretty hard to miss, it's in bright red:

Will this work ? I'd like to think so, but I doubt touting can ever be stopped without a change in the law.
Fancy a bet ?
Pete has avoided a custodial sentence and has been given 12 months community service, acoording to sky news:
http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-13504167,00.html
So... given that he is back on the streets I can imagine London's dealers are already on the phone to Afgahnistan to order up more supplies.
Would anyone like to offer me a spread on when he will next be arrested.. 5 days, 2 days, 1 day, 8 hours?

Arctic Meltdown
Well... haven't managed to get hold of any Arctic Monkey's tickets for the April tour. Every single online ticket agent is showing service not available web pages.... except ticketweb.co.uk, which is showing that there aren't any tickets available.
Lets hope they add another couple of dates at Brixton.
